What does the money go towards?
100% of the funds raised goes to a Denver-based 501(c)(3) public charity called Doing Good Foundation (formerly called Denver Gives).
They are dedicated to helping provide FREE programs and services to small (under $1M annual budget) and local (Colorado-based) nonprofits which are designed to help these charities grow and impact more of our local community!
Can I donate a Joint?
Yea, no. You can’t. We would have no way to utilize it… in order to help our smaller nonprofits. We are prohibited from distribution.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
YES! Denver Gives is a 501(c)(3) and in accordance with the IRS 501(c)(3) tax code 100% of your contribution is tax-deductible.
I run a dispenary/grow house/extraction company, if my company donates, is it tax deductible?
No. Unfortunately, as tax-deductible status is still regulated by the feds and thus you can not take a tax-deduction for your business. However, if you would like to sponsor our efforts, please contact Corporate Compassion, LLC, as they have options for you as a company to participate in Give & Toke as a marketing tool.
Contact Kwhite@corpcomLLC.com for more information!
Why is 100% of the T-shirt not a tax-deduction?
Because you get the T-shirt. According to IRS guidelines in regards to charitable donations, if you receive something in leiu of a “donation” that fair market value of that item can not be taken as a deduction.
I am a nonprofit, how do I participate in this program?
Since this is our first official year of this program, we are only working with Denver Gives, who provides free programs and services to small and local nonprofits. If a 501(c)(3) nonprofit is under $1million annual budget and Colorado-based, any charity can receive their programs and services FREE of charge, but only with the support of donors. If you would like to access their programs and services, please contact them at email@example.com TODAY!
If we can make this successful, in the future, any nonprofit meeting the above criteria will be able to have their own page to accept donations as part of Give & Toke. Your organization will have to meet other requirements and also seek legal council as, if the current laws in still in place, some 501c3’s might not be eligible to participate if funding is coming from federal grant or other funding sources as it may affect their IRS 501(c)(3) status.
Yea… it gets tricky when the feds still refuse to lower the status of marijuana!
